Every breed of dog and cat is different, so the grooming for each pet is unique. We can recommend a grooming routine for your pet so you know exactly what to look for and how often. If you have a young puppy or kitten, acquaint it with grooming early to insure an easy process from the start!
Our grooming packages include:
Bath & Brush: Bathing and drying; hair clipping of the pet's hygiene areas; nails trimmed; anal glands expressed; ears cleaned.
Bath & Tidy: Bathing and drying with light scissoring (example: bushy feet, hair shaved in between the pads, hand scissoring of the hair on the head for a neat appearance); hair clipping of the pet's hygiene areas; nails trimmed; anal glands expressed; ears cleaned.
Full Service Groom: Bathing and drying; complete haircut to breed standard or your own; nails trimmed; anal glands expressed; ears cleaned.
Shed-Out: A service that once you start, you will love! The hair we remove in this service leads to much less hair in your home. We are sure you will like the results - both on your pet and in your home.
To understand the Shed-Out service, let us start with a primer on the hair cycle of your pet. The shorter the hair, the faster it dies - which starts the cycle again, meaning the pet sheds more. Sometimes, small "wash and wear" dogs that look like they don't have much hair are the worst shedders.
Hair has three stages of life: guard hair, dying hair and dead hair. The Shed-Out service at Pet Medical Center removes the dead hair and the dying hair. In about one week's time, you will see more shedding; this is the previous dying hair which was not shedding during the first treatment. Although you can never have "shed-free" dog, you can have a dog with "maintained shedding," which will dramatically minimize the hair in your home.
There are many factors that can aggrevate shedding, including nervousness, skin problems, diet, exposure to light, anesthesia and allergies. When shedding seems to be a chronic problem, a doctor can determine the cause and suggest the best treatment. If unexplained hair loss is a problem with your pet, consulting with one of our doctors is always a wise decision.
